Lacy Waves

There is something fascinating about taking a ball of meaningless yarn and transforming it into a beautiful product.  The best part of creating a project from scratch is that it makes a gift truly from you.  Back in February, my Aunt “J” got one of these gifts, a green scarf, for her birthday!

The other great thing about making them yourself is when people like it so much they want another one :) …. cue the next pic I am showing you of the Lacy Waves Scarf (finished in mid-March). Aunt “J” asked me for a black scarf (and gave me no other specifications)…so… I decided to take the opportunity to try a new pattern and it turned out beautifully.

The key in this scarf is using yarn overs, which make the holes/lacy effect, and knitting two stitches together, which creates the peaks and valleys.  It comes out feeling very light, but still warm, and would be great for a crisp morning in the fall…. speaking of which maybe by next year I’ll need one for myself :)
